On September 19th, 2022, EU-OPENSCREEN and the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) launched the 1st edition of the EU-OS/SLAS joint data mining challenge on the Kaggle competition platform. High quality unpublished data, obtained from our partner sites, have been provided to the data scientist community to benchmark current prediction models and to facilitate the development of better computational models for more accurate predictions.
This year's edition starts with a challenge of predicting the aqueous solubility of compounds from the European chemical biology library (ECBL). Roughly 100.000 compounds have been analysed by nephelometry and 70% of this data is on Kaggle, while 30% is awaiting your prediction based on its chemical structure. All data will be publicly available via our open access data base after the competition (https://ecbd.eu/).
The best scoring algorithm will win these fabulous prizes sponsored by the SLAS:
- A publication of a technical brief or protocol article with the winning algorithm in an SLAS journal without APC. www.slas.org/publications/slas-discovery/
- A podium presentation (talk) at SLAS Europe 2023 with registration and travel costs covered (https://www.slas.org/events-calendar/slas-europe-2023-conference-and-exhibition/)
- A one-year free SLAS membership (https://www.slas.org/)
Join our competition now! Multiple submissions are allowed, but the deadline for final submission of your favourite algorithm will be 31st December 2022. The winner will be announced on the 31st of January 2023.
