Mabel Loza from our partner site in Santiago de Compostela received Wonenburger prize

Mabel Loza from the BioFarma Group of our partner site, University of Santiago de Compostela, received the Wonenburger Award 2019. The Wonenburger Prize was created in memorian of María Josefa Wonenburger (in 2017) by the Unidade de Muller e Ciencia (Xunta de Galicia) to recognize the research work of women scientists.

The Xunta de Galicia published the award through its Women and Science Unit , which agreed to grant this distinction to the leader of the BioFarma group after the plenary meeting chaired by the General Secretariat for Equality of the Xunta de Galicia, Susana López Abella.The Women and Science Unit was created with the aim of increasing the presence of women in the scientific and technological fields of Galicia, as well as placing the gender perspective in scientific activity in the foreground. The María Josefa Wonenburger award is one of the initiatives promoted to highlight the relevant careers of women in the fields of science and technology, as a tribute to the famous Spanish mathematician, Maria Josefa Wonenburger.
