Polish Ministry grants €3.5 million to Polish partner sites for “POL-OPENSCREEN 2.0”

To advance access to cutting-edge facilities for chemical biology and early drug discovery, EU-OPENSCREEN depends on the active engagement and initiative of all partner sites. We are therefore pleased to share that our Polish partner sites, united under the POL-OPENSCREEN Consortium, have received funding of PLN 15,350,692.03 (approx. EUR 3.5 million) from the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education for the "POL-OPENSCREEN 2.0" program, supporting the Polish screening infrastructure platform’s participation in EU-OPENSCREEN for the years 2024–2028.

The POL-OPENSCREEN Consortium was established in 2010 by the Institute of Medical Biology (IMB) of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) in Łódź and the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics (IBB) PAS in Warsaw. They have since integrated five more Polish research institutions, including another official EU-OPENSCREEN partner site, the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry (IBCH) PAS in Poznan. This new funding under POL-OPENSCREEN 2.0 will allow the consortium to strengthen key resources, including their National Library of Chemical Compounds (NLCC), their Bacteriology–Virology Screening Lab, and their HTS platform at the Centre for Chemical Biology.

We congratulate the POL-OPENSCREEN Consortium on this development, and we look forward to continued collaborations to shape the future of chemical biology and early drug discovery.
