Visit of Pierre Grand, Senior Advisor Europe Office, from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to EU-OPENSCREEN and the FMP Screening Partner Site on Campus Buch, Berlin, on Aug 20,2019. Pierre Grand was accompanied by Detlev Ganten, who is the founding Director of the Max Delbrück Centre for Molecular Medicine (MDC) and President of the World Health Summit, and Jörg Heldmann, Managing Director of the World Health Summit.

Bahne Stechmann, Scientific Officer, of EU-OPENSCREEN gave a talk on EU-OPENSCREEN´s strategy to raise awareness on European research infrastructures and attract users globally. Bahne explained especially the outreach strategy for Africa. EU-OPENSCREEN is partner in the Horizon 2020 Research Infrastructure Visibility project (RI VIS) and plans an ‘Africa Europe Symposium’ to be held in Cape Town in March 2020. This symposium will bring together African technology platforms, European RIs, funders, philanthropic organisations and researchers. It will be chaired by Prof. Trevor Sewell, Director of Imaging and Analysis, from the University of Cape Town.
