Expertise:

Carmen Gil, together with Ana Martínez and Nuria Campillo, belongs to the Translational Medicinal and Biological Chemistry laboratory, integrated in the Structural and Chemical Biology department of CIB-CSIC. This Laboratory at CIB-CSIC is leader in Spain in the research and development of new drugs for the treatment of neurological and infectious diseases. We are a multidisciplinary research group combining scientists with different backgrounds and with high experience on drug design and development, molecular modelling and chemoinformatics, organic synthesis, biological screening, ADMETox properties optimization and business management. The group has founded one spin-off ANKAR PHARMA and in a near future another one will be founded, AITENA based on Artificial Intelligence application to drug development. Our own chemical library contains more than 2000 compounds with privileged scaffolds that are used in directed biological screening programs. Noteworthy, this laboratory has been validated as chemistry site by the EU-OPENSCREEN (European infrastructure for chemical biology). Our main interest is to discover innovative drugs for unmet diseases.
